An 8-year-old boy was attacked by a shark off the coast of North Carolina on Sunday, local media reported.
The boy’s identity was not immediately known, but McCall told the local TV stations the boy was bitten in the leg while in the ocean.
According to WECT, the boy was taken to a hospital via the island’s ferry. He was expected to make a full recovery, McCall said. The type of shark that bit him was not immediately known.
WTVD reports that the attack is believed to be the third known shark bite off North Carolina’s coast in June.
