Cindy Crawford has revealed she’s experienced ageism for continuing to model in her fifties.
The Nineties supermodel, 53, who has son Presley, 19, and daughter Kaia, 17, with her husband Rande Gerber, was speaking at an event with WWD and Greg Renker, who she built brand Meaningful Beauty with.
She recalled one particular comment she received from a troll on Instagram and explained: ‘They posted something like, “Ah, why are you still doing those at your age?”
‘I was like, is there an age where being nude isn’t beautiful? It’s just a different kind of beauty. That is part of the reason I still do shoots.’

Speaking at an event with WWD and Greg Renker, Cindy (pictured on her Instagram account) said: ‘I remember some snarky person on Instagram — there seem to be a lot of those — posted something like, “Ah, why are you still doing those at your age?” ‘I was like, is there an age where being nude isn’t beautiful?’

The iconic beauty has recently posed for ‘tasteful nudes’ for renowned photographer Russell James’ new book, Angels.
During the chat, she spoke about fellow supermodel friend Christy Turlington and also highlighted why she feels photoshoots are still an important part of her life.
‘We want to show women who are 53, and I think Christy just turned 50, that there’s still beauty in that,’ she explained.
But Cindy, who was one of the first original supermodels, did confess that as the years have passed, modeling has become ‘a little harder.’

‘I hope this is politically correct, but sometimes I say I need Viagra for shoots,’ she joked. ‘It’s harder to get it up.’
Her skincare range was born in 2004 and now generates annual sales of over $100 million (around £78k) – and Cindy credits various factors for looking good at all ages.
‘Avoiding the sun, not smoking, drinking a lot of water, and getting enough sleep is key to looking and feeling good at any age,’ she said.
Cindy, who has watched her daughter model for various international fashion weeks, has previously spoke of her decision to let Kaia Gerber take to the catwalk at the tender age of 16, saying she is more concerned about her driving a car than modelling.
She explained: ‘My daughter just got her driver’s license. I’m a lot more concerned about her driving by herself than her entering the world of modeling.’
‘The great thing for my kids is that I know a lot about that world. I feel like: Who better to help guide them than me?’
