Margaret Hunter, who worked as the California Republican’s campaign manager, is scheduled to appear in federal court Thursday to change her plea.
The couple pleaded not guilty last year after a grand jury indicted them on charges of using campaign cash on trips to Italy and Hawaii, golf outings, school tuition and theater tickets.
They’re also accused of trying to conceal the illegal spending in federal documents.
Her lawyers couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
The congressman has said his wife handled his finances. He went on to win re-election in the 50th District in San Diego and Riverside counties.
