Pineapples are notoriously messy and difficult to chop up, but a viral video has revealed a much simpler way to eat the fruit – and it’s left Twitter users in awe
Footage shared on TikTok by user Dillon Roberts shows someone pulling out sections of the pineapple piece-by-piece after chopping off the top.
It shows how pulling at the skin towards the centre gives you pyramid-shaped pieces, without the need for chopping.
The video was later shared on Twitter by Lewis McCluskey, a 21-year-old Biomedical Sciences student from Middlesbrough.
‘I’m sorry but what the actual f***’ he wrote, and the tweet quickly racked up more than 40,000 shares and hundreds of replies.
One person said: ‘Should I just drop out of college now or? Why am I learning more on this app’.
Another added: ‘It’s crazy we been doing s*** the wrong way for like 50 years and then out of nowhere Twitter making us feel like idiots’.
A third wrote: ‘…so we been eating it WRONG?’
Usefully, another Twitter user, Aulendi, shared why this happens.
‘You can do this because pineapples are actually berries’ he wrote.
‘As the fruit grows, the individual berries coalesce together’
‘Each “eye'” is a single individual berry. They may seem fused together, but if you start from the top, you can pluck each eye, one by one.
More than 2000 people replied to Lewis’s tweet sharing the video, many in complete shock at the revelation
